Well, every year Google short lists some
apps based on different categories which according to them are some of
the best apps on the Play Store you can get. This year Google Play
awards were unveiled on the eve of I/O 2018 (annual
developer conference). The nominees were first announced last month and

This category is for new apps and games
with excellent overall design and user experience and strong install
growth. This year its Empires & Puzzles.

This category is for well optimized
performance, good design and emerging markets. This year India's

Standout Startup :
Here, apps from new developers or
Startups with good user experience and high number of installs are
highlighted. This year Canva is named the best new Standout Startup app.
Its an easy and simple to use photo editor and Graphics design tool.
Best AR / VR Experience:
Apps which offer amazing visual experience with highly optimized use of ARCore or Daydream UI.
"BBC Earth : Life in VR" gets this title this year.
Standout Indie:
Games from indie developers with great design,game-play and visuals with well optimized user experience.
Best Community Building Game :
Games that are built to connect users and promotes social interactions with great gameplay and game mechanics.
Best Social Impact:
Apps or games which create a positive
impact and are great for productivity. (categories include :
health,education,crisis response etc.)
Best Accessibility Experience:
Apps that serves people with disabilities or special needs.
Standout Well-Being App :
Apps with great design and aspects which
provides a rich user experience and encourages users to live a better
life.This year Simple Habit is named the best Standout App of 2018.
