How to connect LYF phone to PC or laptop

To connect LYF phone internet to laptop or PC you need a USB data cable, driver software and a data pack. Driver software link may be added in this page if requested via comment because I have already mentioned them in another article, I don't want to repeat again and again. Once the driver software is installed, proceed to below steps:

Note: If your LYF mobile doesn't have "USB tethering" option in the settings then use Wi-Fi hotspot option and use a WiFi adapter in the PC or in Laptop to avail internet access.

Now back to USB tethering for LYF, the first step here is to install appropriate driver and corresponding version based on the mobile model you have. If you are confused about the model then write it in comments and let us know. Once the drivers are ready then connect it via USB cable (not USB power cable that comes with the power banks).

A blog reader recently reported that USB tethering is not working despite installing driver. I have advised them to use rear side USB port in the PC cabinet and not the front one. The USB ports available on the front side of the PC cabinet are called USB hubs and they do not support special USB functions like tethering in most case.

What you can do once the internet is available? If you are using Windows OS such as 7, 8 or 10 itself then mark the connection as home network. There is some advantage here by marking this tethered connection as "Home". Whenever a new connection is detected by the Windows OS, it will ask you to choose the network type. This will enable and disable some features based on the security.

For eg: If you are connected to public network, then you want to secure the files in your computer or laptop from being accessed from other connected systems of the same WiFi or LAN. Hence if "Public" option is chosen at that time of connection it will disable file sharing network services to safeguard you from intruders.

Questions:
1. My LYF phone USB tethering was working fine earlier and now it is not connecting?
Ans: Restart your phone and the laptop/PC. Sometime phone OS may disable USB tethering when it detected unusual voltages at USB cable. Hence the best practice would be to connect the cable at PC/laptop end first followed by phone end.

2. Will Internet speed increase when I use USB tethering over Wi-Fi hotspot?
Ans: Probably not. You won't find much difference on the internet speed. Internet speed depends on how much data is consumed by the background running services. This will also be depending on the "Sync" that is initiated by kernel processes.

3. Can I install and use ADB drivers for LYF phone?
Ans: LYF doesn't support ADB drivers.
