When Nokia made a comeback via HMD Global, people
didn’t know what to make of the Android powered smartphones. However, the
company has managed to stay afloat and is doing quite well right now. One of
the main reasons for this is because the Nokia phones run stock Android
software, and get updates on time or don’t have to wait very long, unlike other
OEMs.
All of the phones Nokia has released so far, the Nokia
2, Nokia 3, Nokia 5, Nokia 6, Nokia 7, and the Nokia 8, have all received the
Android 8.1 Oreo update, or are receiving them now. This is great for the users,
as they will have the latest Android software on their phones. The new Nokia
smartphones have also been guaranteed up to 2 years of software updates.
Nokia 2 – Android 8.1 Update
The Nokia 2 is a low-end budget smartphone, and it is
currently receiving Android 8.1 Oreo update via Nokia Beta labs. Yes, the
official version isn’t available yet, but users can sign up for the beta
program and try out the software. This usually means that a public version will
come out next month.
HMD Global released the Nokia 2 in October last year,
and it features a 5-inch LCD display, a Snapdragon 212 processor, 1GB of RAM,
8GB of internal storage, an 8MP rear camera, 5MP front camera, and a 4100mAh
battery. The Nokia 2 skipped the Android 8.0 update and jumped directly to 8.1.
Nokia 3 – Android 8.1 Update
Now, the Nokia 3 is yet another low-end budget smartphone,
and even this one is currently running on Android 8.0 Oreo. And yes, it is the
final stable release, which was released in April this year.
The update went live in several regions across the
world, however, some places are yet to receive the Android 8.0 update on their
Nokia 3 devices. As for Android 8.1, you can expect that to be available in the
next month, now that Nokia 2 is getting it.
The Nokia 3 was released in June 2017, and it comes
with a 5-inch display, a Mediatek MT6737 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB ROM, 8MP
cameras both front and back, and a 2630mAh battery.
Nokia 5 – Android 8.1 Update
This is a mid-range smartphone from Nokia, and quite a
popular one in the country. For the price, you’re getting a lot, and the phone
had already received the Android 8.1 update back in March.
With the Nokia 5, you get a 5.2-inch 720p display,
Snapdragon 430 processor, 3GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a 13MP rear
camera, and an 8MP shooter at front. The phone is backed up a 3000mAh battery.
Nokia 6 – Android 8.1 Update
The Nokia 6 is another great mid-range smartphone from
HMD Global. This version has done quite well in the country, and it is also running
Android 8.1 Oreo. The phone received the public software version of 8.1 in
March.
Nokia 6 (2017)
This phone has a 5.5-inch 1080p display, a Snapdragon
430 processor, up to 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, a 16MP rear
camera, an 8MP front camera, and a 3000mAh battery.
Nokia 7 – Android 8.1 Update
Although the Nokia 7 is a China only exclusive device,
even this variant has received the Android 8.1 Oreo update. The device received
the new software just last month, and because it is China exclusive, it doesn’t
get any Google apps or services.
With the Nokia 7, you get a 5.2-inch 1080p display, a
Snapdragon 630 processor, up to 6GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, 16MP rear
camera, 5MP front camera, and a 3000mAh battery.
In case you are wondering, the Nokia 7 Plus, which is
yet another awesome mid-range Nokia smartphone, has also received the update to
Android 8.1 Oreo.
Nokia 8 – Android 8.1 Update
Finally, the 2017 flagship from Nokia, has also
received the Android 8.1 Oreo update. The phone received the update in February
this year.
